Mineral Wool Boards

Mineral Wool Boards

Xiaolong mineral wool boards are rigid, non-combustible insulation panels made from inorganic mineral fibers. They cut heat loss, absorb noise and add a fire-safe layer to walls, roofs, partitions and hot equipment. Each board holds its shape, cuts cleanly and installs by mechanical fixing or adhesive bonding. Density grades are matched to the job, from light cavity fill to firm roof and facade boards. Sound-Absorbing Mineral Wool Boards for Walls, Roofs and Hot Equipment

A Mineral Wool Boards Manufacturer Built around Real Site Conditions

Buildings and plants lose energy, leak noise and carry fire risk when the insulation layer is chosen badly. Xiaolong is a manufacturer of mineral wool boards that tackle all three problems in one rigid, non-combustible panel. Our boards are made with controlled fiber structure and stable density, so they cut cleanly, sit flat and perform the same way from the first pallet to the last. For a quick material comparison, see our guide to rock wool board vs foam board. Mineral Fiber Composition and Material Performance

Interwoven Inorganic Fiber Matrix

Fine mineral fibers lock together into a stable board that keeps its shape under normal handling and fastening.

The fibers are inorganic, so the board does not rot, feed mold or attract pests.

Sound-Dampening Porous Texture

Millions of tiny air pockets slow down sound waves, which helps in partitions, ceilings and plant enclosures.

The same trapped air reduces heat flow, so one board handles both noise and temperature.

Resistance to Elevated Temperatures

Mineral wool boards stay non-combustible and keep their form at temperatures where foam products soften or burn.

They work as a fire-stopping layer in building envelopes and as backup insulation behind hot-face linings.

Grade-Specific Mechanical Rigidity

Higher density is not always better. Light grades suit cavity walls, while firmer grades carry roof finishes, render systems and equipment loads.

For facade and roof work, we look at compressive strength and fiber orientation together, because both decide how the board behaves under fixings and foot traffic.

Mineral Wool Boards Earn Their Place

Facade and Curtain Wall Backing

Continuous mineral wool board insulation behind cladding or render on offices, hospitals and schools.

Non-combustible layer in walls that must slow fire spread between floors.

Cut boards about 5 mm oversize and press them in, so the friction fit closes gaps without foam sealant.

Roof and Deck Insulation

Firm mineral wool boards under single-ply membranes or metal decking on warehouses and factories.

Staggered joints between layers to stop heat leaking through straight seams.

Partition Walls, Studios and Plant Rooms

Cavity fill in multi-unit residential walls to reduce airborne noise.

Linings for cinemas, music rooms and generator enclosures.

A thicker board helps, but a clean airtight edge and a decoupled frame usually help more.

Industrial Equipment, Ducts and Furnace Shells

Xiaolong mineral wool boards as insulation on boilers, flue ducts, dryers and kiln casings.

Backup layers behind refractory linings, where the board protects the steel shell.

A practical choice when replacing old asbestos-type insulating boards in high-temperature work, with no asbestos in the new material.

Questions Buyers Ask before Choosing Mineral Wool Boards

1. How do I choose the right density for my project?

Start with the load, not the number. Cavity walls and ceilings need only a light board, while roofs and facades call for firmer mineral wool boards. Roof decks, render systems and equipment panels need a firmer one, because the board has to resist pressure from fixings, finishes and traffic. If you are still weighing materials, our article on the most effective insulation board explains how to compare options by use case instead of by name.

2. Are mineral wool boards itchy or unsafe to handle at home?

The loose fibers can irritate skin and throat for a short time during cutting. Wear gloves, long sleeves and a dust mask, and use a sharp long knife rather than a saw. Once the boards are sealed behind plasterboard or cladding, there is no fiber exposure in the room.

3. Why does smoke appear the first time my equipment runs hot?

A small amount of organic binder holds the fibers together. On the first heating cycle it burns off, which can cause light smoke and a smell. This is normal and fades after a short time. Raise the temperature gradually during commissioning, and ventilate the area. The insulating value is not noticeably reduced by this burn-off.

4. Can I use mineral wool boards in a damp basement or bathroom wall?

Yes, with care. The fibers do not rot or support mold, but a board soaked with liquid water loses insulating value until it dries. Keep it away from direct leaks, install a proper vapor control layer on the correct side of the wall, and store spare boards off the ground under cover before use.

5. Does the fiber type change the temperature I can specify?

Yes. "Mineral wool" covers rock wool, slag wool and glass wool, and their limits are very different. Glass wool boards are generally rated for much lower service temperatures than rock wool boards. For ducts, boilers and kilns, confirm the maximum service temperature of the exact grade, not just the product family name.
