Installation, Upkeep and Chemical Compatibility

1. How should wrinkles caused by temperature change be handled during installation?

HDPE expands in heat and shrinks in cold, so wrinkles appear in the afternoon sun. Deploy and weld in the cooler part of the day, leave slight slack, and let the sheet settle before final seaming and covering.

2. Can an HDPE liner be used for a garden pond or fish pond?

Yes. Black HDPE is widely used for ponds because it is stable in water and does not rot. For fish or drinking-water use, ask for virgin resin without recycled content, and rinse the surface before filling.

3. How is the liner held in place against wind and slope slippage?

Panels are anchored in a trench along the crest, usually about 0.5 m deep and wide, then backfilled and compacted. Temporary sandbags hold panels down until the seams are welded.

4. How long does an HDPE liner last, and does it need upkeep?

Covered liners can last several decades, and exposed ones usually less because of sunlight. Upkeep is light: remove sharp debris, check edges and seams now and then, and repair any hole with an extrusion-welded patch.

5. Do the stored liquid and its temperature change which liner I should choose?
