Enhanced Substrate Bonding with Fleece Backed PVC Membrane for Roofing Retrofit Applications
Fleece Backed PVC Membrane Supply for Roofs that Need a Better Bond
Re-roofing is rarely a clean slate. Old decks, mixed layers and tight schedules make a loose membrane risky. Xiaolong produces fleece backed PVC membrane that pairs a weldable PVC top sheet with a polyester fleece underside, so the roof can be bonded to the substrate and sealed at every seam. Tell us your deck type and attachment method, and we will help you pick the right configuration.
Heat-Weldable PVC with a Bonding-Ready Backing
Fleece Layer for Adhesion and Puncture Buffer
The fleece grips adhesive and cushions the sheet against rough deck surfaces, as discussed in our fleece backed PVC selection guide.
Fleece-Free Weld Edge
A clean PVC edge on the sheet gives hot-air welds a fusing surface free of fibre.
Weldable Thermoplastic Seams
Laps fuse into a continuous, watertight layer that can be probed and repaired.
Adhered or Mechanically Fixed Systems
The same sheet suits bonded roofs and fixed retrofit assemblies, depending on the deck.

Fleece Backed PVC Membrane Specifications
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Backing Material | Polyester Fleece / Specified Textile Backing |
| Membrane Thickness | Available Product Grades (Specified by PVC Layer Above the Scrim) |
| Membrane Color | Light Grey / Dark Grey / Other Available Options |
| Surface Finish | Smooth / Specified Texture |
| Reinforcement | Polyester Scrim / Other Specified Structure |
| Seam Joining Method | Hot-Air Welding |
| Attachment Method | Adhesive Bonding / Mechanical Fixing, Subject to System Design |
Fleece adds to the total thickness without adding waterproofing, so compare grades by the PVC layer above the scrim, not the overall figure.
Retrofit and Adhered Roof Assemblies
Roof Decks with Approved Adhesive Systems
Concrete, gypsum and lightweight concrete decks take a fully bonded sheet that resists wind uplift.
Retrofit Over Existing Roofs
Aged built-up or asphalt roofs can be recovered, with a separation layer where needed.
Rooftop Equipment Zones
The bonded sheet resists scuffing under service routes and plant stands.
Composite Roof Build-Ups
Used over cover boards and insulation in layered commercial assemblies.
Substrate Compatibility and Seam Detailing
1. Can the membrane go over old asphalt roofs or foam insulation?
Often yes, but not by contact alone. Aged asphalt and some foam boards react with PVC or its adhesive, so add a separation layer or cover board as the system design requires.
2. Is fleece backed PVC suitable for a home flat roof, garage or extension?
Yes. It is used on small flat roofs because it bonds to clean, dry decks and forms welded, watertight seams. The deck and adhesive still need to match the system guide, so a trained roofer should handle the work.
3. How are cut edges and fleece sealed at laps and penetrations?
Welds are made on the fleece-free edge of the sheet. Where fleece is cut and exposed, for example at a flashing or a pipe, the edge is sealed so water cannot wick into the backing.
4. How long does the roof last, and how do I look after it?
A well-installed PVC roof commonly lasts 20 years or more. Keep drains and gutters clear, remove debris, and inspect seams and flashings once or twice a year.
5. What weather and surface conditions limit adhering the membrane?
The deck must be clean, dry and within the adhesive maker's temperature range. Avoid rain, dew and strong wind during bonding, and adjust welding settings for the ambient temperature.
