HDPE Geomembrane High-Density Polyethylene Liner, Corrosion & Aging Resistant for Landfills, Municipal & Aquaculture Projects

1. Product Overview

HDPE geomembrane, short for high-density polyethylene impermeable membrane, is a high-performance polymer anti-seepage material. It is produced with premium HDPE resin, blended with carbon black, UV stabilizers, antioxidants and multiple anti-aging additives, and processed through extrusion blow molding or calendering techniques. Fully compliant with GB/T 17643-2011 national standard, the product is supported by complete third-party test reports.

Featuring dense molecular structure, high tensile strength, excellent impermeability and strong corrosion resistance, this geomembrane delivers stable long-term outdoor weather resistance. It is the core anti-seepage and isolation material widely adopted in environmental protection, water conservancy, municipal construction, aquaculture and landscape projects, suitable for all kinds of high-standard anti-seepage engineering scenarios.

2. Product Classification

Smooth HDPE Geomembrane

This type features a flat and tidy surface without any texture. The overall material structure is uniform and dense with stable quality. It comes with an ultra-low permeability coefficient and reliable hot-weld performance. Welded joints achieve excellent tightness, supporting smooth and efficient on-site installation while controlling overall project costs.

Application: Ideal for flat foundations and gentle slope anti-seepage projects, mostly used for bottom lining of various storage tanks, landfill sites and flat base anti-seepage works.

Single/Double Textured HDPE Geomembrane

Uniform rough texture is formed on single or both sides via professional texturing treatment. The surface texture is solidly shaped without peeling or falling off during use. The textured design greatly increases surface friction, providing outstanding anti-slip performance. It effectively prevents membrane sliding and displacement on steep slopes.

Application: Widely used for slope anti-seepage in landfills, tailings ponds, reservoir side slopes and elevated water tank projects.

Composite HDPE Geomembrane (1-layer Geotextile + 1-layer Membrane / 2-layer Geotextile + 1-layer Membrane)

It is an integrated composite product formed by thermal bonding of geotextile and HDPE geomembrane. The geotextile weight can be customized according to project demands. Thermal composite processing ensures no delamination or separation issues. It combines anti-seepage, buffer protection and drainage functions in one single material.

Application: Perfect for complex foundation conditions, including artificial lakes, river slope protection, fish ponds, reservoirs and municipal underground anti-seepage isolation projects.

4. Core Advantages

Ultra-Low Permeability, Reliable Anti-Seepage Effect
HDPE’s compact molecular structure greatly blocks water and air penetration with an extremely low permeation rate. It stably resists long-term water infiltration, effectively avoiding hidden troubles such as water leakage and channeling, and maintains lasting and stable anti-seepage performance for the whole system.

Strong Chemical Inertness Adapts to Harsh Environments
The material features excellent chemical stability and does not react with acid, alkali, salt, sewage and biogas. It can resist long-term erosion from landfill leachate and industrial wastewater, fully adapting to high-corrosion working conditions in environmental, mining and chemical projects.

Excellent Anti-Aging and UV Resistance, Long Service Life
Formulated with high-purity carbon black and professional anti-aging additives, the membrane resists ultraviolet radiation, temperature alternation and microbial corrosion. It can work stably for 10 to 20 years in exposed environments (depending on local climate), and achieve more than 50 years of service life when buried underground.

High Toughness and Strong Mechanical Resistance
With good ductility and excellent elongation performance, the membrane withstands impact, tearing and piercing. It can adapt to uneven foundation settlement, soil displacement and structural deformation without cracking or damage, ensuring the overall integrity of the anti-seepage system.

Superb Low-Temperature Adaptability
It keeps stable physical toughness at -70℃ without embrittlement or hardening. The material suits various regional climates and supports normal construction in low-temperature winter environments, featuring wide environmental adaptability.

Safe, Non-Toxic and Eco-Friendly
Produced from pure virgin raw materials, the membrane contains no harmful components or toxic precipitates. It is safe for water bodies and soil, widely used in drinking water reservoirs, landscape water systems and aquaculture projects without causing any pollution.

Convenient Welding Construction with High Overall Tightness
The membrane supports professional hot-melt welding. Welded seams fuse integrally with the base material to form a seamless closed structure. The wide-width roll design reduces on-site splicing quantity, effectively lowering leakage risks and improving overall project stability.

5. Application Scope

Environmental & Sanitation Projects: Municipal landfills, waste incineration plants, tailings ponds, hazardous waste storage yards and leachate regulating tanks.

Water Conservancy & Landscape Projects: Reservoirs, artificial lakes, landscape rivers, water storage tanks, water diversion channels and various regulating water bodies.

Aquaculture Industry: Anti-seepage and slope protection for fish ponds, shrimp ponds, loach ponds and special breeding ponds.

Municipal & Construction Projects: Basement roof slabs, underground utility tunnels, garage roof slabs and municipal underground moisture-proof and anti-seepage works.

Chemical & Sewage Treatment Projects: Urban sewage plants, regulating tanks, sedimentation tanks, chemical reaction tanks, waste liquid tanks and chemical cofferdam anti-corrosion and anti-seepage treatment.

Agricultural Renovation Projects: Saline-alkali land isolation, farmland water-saving anti-seepage, agricultural water storage facilities and salt pan anti-seepage projects.

6. Construction Technology

HDPE geomembrane mainly adopts hot-air double-track welding construction. The standard welding temperature is controlled at 400℃ to 500℃, with overlapping width no less than 100mm. The overlapping area is thermally fused, reserving a hollow cavity for later air pressure inspection.

Substrate Requirements: Clean up all sharp stones, hard sundries and debris on the base to ensure flat and solid foundation. For complex and rugged substrates, lay a layer of geotextile as buffer protection to avoid membrane piercing damage.

Weld Inspection Standard: Conduct air pressure leakage test at 0.15–0.2MPa. Maintain pressure for 3 to 5 minutes with no pressure drop or air leakage, which qualifies the welding quality and avoids incomplete welding and missing welds.

Fixing Method: Adopt loose laying, batten fixing or slope anchoring according to actual site conditions. The anchoring trench depth shall reach more than 500mm, with layered backfilling and compaction to ensure firm fixation. The seamless integrated structure ensures stable and reliable long-term anti-seepage performance of the whole project.

7.FAQ

Q1: What are the differences between smooth, textured and composite HDPE geomembrane?A1: Smooth type is cost-effective for flat bases. Textured type provides anti-slip performance for steep slopes. Composite type with geotextile offers extra protection and drainage for complex foundations.

Q2: Is HDPE geomembrane resistant to harsh chemicals and low temperatures?A2: Yes. It stands against acid, alkali and sewage erosion, and remains crack-free at -70℃. It works reliably in landfill, chemical and cold-region projects.

Q3: How to check the welding quality on site?A3: We use double-track hot welding. Conduct air pressure test at 0.15–0.2MPa for 3-5 minutes; no pressure drop means qualified welding.

8. Product Summary

Complying with GB/T 17643-2011 standard, HDPE geomembrane covers smooth, textured and composite types to meet all kinds of anti-seepage engineering demands. It integrates excellent impermeability, corrosion resistance, anti-aging performance, high toughness and low-temperature stability, and features eco-friendly and non-toxic properties. Through professional hot-melt welding, it forms a fully enclosed and stable anti-seepage system, serving as the preferred long-term anti-seepage material for environmental protection, water conservancy, municipal, aquaculture and agricultural engineering projects.
