Type P Reinforced TPO Waterproof Membrane | Polyester Grid, High Wind Resistance, Single-ply Roofing Material

1. Product Overview

Type P Reinforced TPO Waterproof Membrane is a polyester grid reinforced single-ply roofing material, designed specifically for exposed roof waterproofing works. It meets GB 27789-2011, ASTM D6878 and FM wind uplift standards, covering both domestic construction and overseas export projects. Manufactured with premium PP and EPDM compound materials via three-layer co-extrusion technique, the product features a stable composite structure with a high-strength polyester grid fully embedded inside the TPO layers.

This recyclable membrane contains no halogens or migratory plasticizers. Its high solar reflectivity delivers excellent cool roof performance, effectively cutting building heat absorption and energy consumption. Blending rubber-like weather adaptability and thermoplastic weldability, the product boasts stable dimension and strong wind resistance. It is widely used in mechanical fixed single-ply roofing systems, ideal for large steel buildings, public facilities, BIPV roofs and various roof renovation projects.

2. Structure & Technical Specifications

Product Structure

Produced by integrated three-layer co-extrusion process, the internal polyester reinforcement grid is fully wrapped by TPO materials with even coating on both sides. This integrated structure completely avoids common quality hazards like delamination and interlayer separation. Formulated with professional UV stabilizers and anti-aging additives, the membrane maintains stable physical performance without chalking, cracking or deformation even after years of full outdoor exposure.

3. Core Product Advantages

Embedded Polyester Reinforcement & Superior Wind Uplift Resistance
Built-in high-strength polyester grid greatly improves the membrane’s dimensional stability, with thermal dimensional change controlled within ≤1% as tested per GB/T 328.12. It resists tearing, deformation and strong wind pressure effectively, and well accommodates thermal expansion and contraction of large-span steel roofs, making it highly suitable for mechanical fixed roofing systems in high-wind areas.

Integral Heat Welding & Long-term Seam Stability
Thanks to its integrated composite structure, all laps and joints can be fully fused by hot-air welding. The welded seams merge organically with the base membrane with no hidden leakage gaps. This effectively prevents seam cracking, peeling and water seepage, securing long-term stable waterproof performance for fully exposed roof systems.

Eco-friendly Formula & Strong Chemical Corrosion Resistance
Free of harmful halogens and migrating plasticizers, this eco-friendly recyclable material will not erode building substrates or insulation layers. It offers reliable resistance against acid, alkali, oil contamination and rain erosion, capable of stable long-term use in chemical plants, waste treatment stations and livestock breeding facilities.

High-reflective Energy Saving & Extended Weather Durability
The standard off-white high-reflective finish complies with cool roof specifications, lowering rooftop heat buildup and reducing overall building energy consumption. With built-in UV and ozone resistant components, the membrane needs no extra protective layers and remains intact against chalking and cracking under long-term outdoor exposure.

Multi-process Compatibility & Complete System Matching
The membrane supports three mainstream installation methods: mechanical fastening, full adhesion and loose-laid ballast, adapting to different roof structures and wind load conditions. Perfectly matched with Type H homogeneous TPO membrane, it forms a complete roofing solution — Type P for large-area main roof waterproofing, and Type H for complex flashing and detail processing.

4. Application Scenarios

Large-span Steel Structure Roofs: Ideal exposed waterproofing solution for factories, warehouses and commercial steel buildings, especially applicable to coastal regions and projects with high wind load demands.

Public & Civil Building Roofs: Suitable for single-ply waterproofing of large public facilities such as stadiums, exhibition halls, railway stations and airport terminals.

BIPV Photovoltaic Roofs: Professionally customized for building-integrated photovoltaic roofs. It tolerates frequent temperature changes and will not interfere with normal operation of PV modules.

Old Roof Renovation Projects: Allows direct overlay construction on aged asphalt, SBS and metal roofs. It avoids full roof demolition, greatly cutting renovation costs and shortening construction periods.

Corrosive Industrial Environments: Well suited for long-term exposed waterproofing for chemical plants, waste treatment plants and agricultural buildings that require high durability and corrosion resistance.

5. Standard Construction Guidelines

Base Surface Treatment: Keep the base firm, flat, dry and clean. Remove all sharp protrusions, oil stains, ponding and dust to prevent membrane damage and poor welding adhesion.

Construction Environment Requirements: Construction temperature should be kept above 5℃. Preheat the base and membrane in low-temperature conditions. No construction allowed in rainy, snowy, windy or foggy weather.

Lap Width Standards: Longitudinal lap width ≥80mm, transverse lap width ≥120mm, adjustable according to project wind load design requirements.

Professional Hot-air Welding Process: Use dedicated TPO welding equipment with temperature set at 500–600℃ and travelling speed at 1.5–2.5m/min for reference. Complete trial welding and peel tests before formal construction, and roll welded seams immediately to achieve full fusion.

Key Node Reinforcement: Paste 150–300mm wide Type H TPO reinforcement layers at corners, pipe roots, equipment bases and expansion joints to strengthen sealing and prevent nodal leakage.

Mechanical Fastening Specification: Arrange fastener spacing between 300–600mm according to wind load calculation, ensuring reliable wind uplift resistance and adapting to various installation methods.

Edge Termination & Sealing: Fix matched edge trims firmly and seal with special TPO sealant to avoid edge warping, lifting and water penetration.

Finished Product Protection: Do not walk on or stack materials on the finished roof within 24 hours after construction, to protect welded seams and keep the membrane intact.

6. FAQ
