Product Overview

Backed TPO waterproof membrane is a heat-weldable single-ply waterproofing sheet features laminated polyester fleece backing. The textured fleece enables firm adhesive bonding to concrete and metal substrates, while providing cushioning protection against minor substrate defects during installation.

Designed for fully adhered roof waterproofing systems, it is widely used on commercial and industrial roofs where mechanical fastening is unsuitable.

Available specifications cover 1.2–2.0 mm thickness, standard 1.0 m/2.0 m roll widths and 20 m/25 m lengths. Custom sizes and light-colored smooth finishes are supported per production feasibility. Our team only assesses production feasibility and does not undertake engineering design or project selection.

Product Features

Polyester fleece backing

A non-woven polyester fleece fabric is laminated to the underside of the membrane during production. The fleece backing is designed to absorb adhesives, enabling strong, uniform bonding to concrete, metal, and other substrates. The backing also provides a cushioning layer that helps protect the membrane from minor substrate irregularities and installation damage.

Weather and UV resistance

The TPO base material offers resistance to weathering, ultraviolet radiation, and aging. The material remains flexible at low temperatures and maintains mechanical strength at elevated temperatures. These characteristics refer to laboratory material-level performance; actual field performance is subject to project-site conditions. Light-colored surfaces also reflect solar radiation.

Heat-weldable seams

Adjacent membrane sheets are joined by hot-air welding to form integrated seams. The sealing performance of welded joints relies on proper on-site welding workmanship and complete system detailing.

Full adhesion capability

The fleece backing allows the membrane to be fully adhered to the substrate using compatible adhesives. This creates a uniform bond that resists wind uplift. Fastening method shall be determined by project design and wind load requirements.

Surface and Color Options

Backed TPO waterproof membrane is available in various surface finishes and colors. Available options include:

Option Type Description
Standard White Smooth, light-colored reflective surface; reduces heat absorption
Light Gray Alternative light color for specific aesthetic requirements
Smooth Finish Standard smooth surface; facilitates hot-air welding
Custom Color Available subject to minimum order quantity and production feasibility

FAQ

Q1. What is the difference between backed and reinforced TPO membrane?
Backed TPO has a polyester fleece laminated to the underside for adhesive bonding. Reinforced TPO has a polyester fabric grid embedded in the middle, delivering enhanced mechanical properties suitable for mechanically fastened system designs.

Q2. What thickness should I choose for my roofing project?
Thickness selection depends on wind uplift requirements, roof traffic, and project specifications. Refer to your project's structural and wind load calculations for specific guidance.

Q3. How are membrane seams sealed?
Seams are joined by hot-air welding to fuse two sheets into an integrated joint. Final joint sealing performance depends on qualified on-site welding execution and system detailing.

Q4. Can the membrane be installed directly over existing roofing?
This depends on the condition of the existing roof and the project design. A qualified roofing contractor should assess the existing substrate before installation.

Q5. Is the membrane suitable for exposed outdoor applications?
Formulated with weather and UV resistant properties for exposed outdoor use. Long-term service performance depends on complete roof system design and professional installation.

Q6. What is the low-temperature flexibility of the membrane?
The membrane remains flexible at temperatures as low as –40°C under laboratory test conditions for the material. Actual on-site flexibility and constructability shall be evaluated by your project engineer according to local climate.
